I'm 16, I go to school in Melbourne, I'm in Year 11 and I'm completing my VCE. I've been writing songs for 2 and a half years and have been singing and dancing since I was about 7.

So are there any musicians that inspire you?

Yeah, I'd have to say I think Alicia Keys, she has an amazing voice. Madonna and Christina Aguilera as performers are incredible.

Your single 'Always There' was released yesterday. Was there a story behind it?

Yes, I was coming to terms with a sudden death of a close friend which was a huge shock, especially as I was so young and it was so sudden. It inspired me to write what I was feeling at the time which then helped me to remember the happy things about him. So yeah that helped me.

Reach Out! actually covers a lot of issues people our age go through, but one of the things we talk about is coping with loss. How would you say that you coped with this loss?

Everyone feels pain and you can't stop that but I think you've gotta think about the happy times you had with them, that now it's probably for the best they're not in pain anymore, they're in a happier place. You think about the good times and the positives.

Has all this publicity and recognition been very sudden for you?

Yeah it has, it came all of a sudden. I've got my single coming out and that's exciting and all of a sudden you see a picture of yourself and you're like 'oh my god'. It's different, but it's fun.

Obviously it's been such a busy schedule for you, doing 4.30am starts to appear on Sunrise, what do you do to chill out?

Hang with friends, go to the movies, all that kind of thing - just relax. I love sleeping. I'm busy doing something I enjoy doing so it's not really stressful

How do you find a balance between school and music?

I've missed a bit of school, which is VCE so I've had quite a bit to catch up on, but I think I've been juggling the two quite well.

Do you enjoy school?

Well, I enjoy seeing my friends! I do a lot of arts subjects so I enjoy that too.
